BATON ROUGE – Former LSU Tiger Basketball star Brandon Bass, who now plays for the Orlando Magic of the National Basketball Association, will host the first “Brandon Bass All Star Weekend Takeover, July 30-Aug. 1 in Baton Rouge.
The event will support “The Brandon Bass Reach Back Foundation,” to provide school supplies, backpacks and college financial assistance for the 2010-2011 school year to help under-privileged students within the Baton Rouge area.
The weekend starts on July 30 with the Bass All Star Concert with Grammy winner Fabolous and Monica at 8 p.m. at the Baton Rouge River Center. Among the celebrities expected to attend include Dwight Howard and Rashard Lewis of the Orlando Magic; Chris Paul and Marcus Thornton of the New Orleans Hornets and Tyrus Thomas of the Charlotte Bobcats.
On July 31 at 3 p.m. will be the Bass Celebrity Bowling Battle at All-Star Lanes with a 9 p.m. Red Carpet Celebrity After Party at a venue still to be announced. The event concludes on Aug. 1 with a Celebrity Brunch at 10:30 a.m. at the Belle Hotel of Baton Rouge.
